Why have standards?
Directives and standards place requirements on manufacturers to ensure their products, when supplied, are safe. They assist industry by reducing barriers to trade worldwide by ensuring a common policy of safety and supply of machinery across the world.
The work to develop standards
In Sweden, the work is led by the SIS (Swedish Standards Institute), which oversees the companies and organisations that jointly develop new guidelines. By participating in committee work, companies remain abreast of the latest findings and they can also influence the European (CEN) and international (ISO) standards under development.
Troax participates actively in standardization work
Troax has participated in the committee for National and International Standardization activities for more than 4 years, enabling us to influence and be aware of what the future of the industry will look like.
The latest standards under review is the revision of the ’Machine Safety – General requirements for the design and manufacture of fixed and movable guards’. Kim Dahl at Troax has been appointed Project Manager for this work.
“The goal of this project is to create a modern and user-friendly standard, which is not only easy to read but also easy to understand and use in practice,” says Kim Dahl.
